Month of the Young Child Champions Reception

Champions Reception

Established to promote and support quality care and education of all young children, birth through age eight, in Indiana as a result of Christine L. Fisher’s lifetime passion for children.

Christine L. Fisher was an exceptional early childhood educator and leader who made the world a better place for young children, early childhood professionals who work with and on behalf of young children, and all who came in contact with her.  The world is forever better because of Christine L. Fisher and her loving, kind, graceful wisdom that she shared with young children, early childhood professionals, co-workers and others blessed by her friendship.  She was the bright light for so many and that light will continue to illuminate the world for young children!”  Dianna Wallace, Executive Director

Each year since 2013, the Christine L. Fisher Fund has awarded grants to early childhood facilities across the state to continue Christine’s legacy  to improve the literacy, nutrition, movement and art experiences for young children. In 2014, in cooperation with children’s author, Tina Powell, the Christine L. Fisher Fund and Indiana AEYC published a children’s book, Little Christine’s Big Dream.

When I started out my Family Child Care Home, people were talking a lot about quality child care.  I asked myself, what is quality child care?  By obtaining a scholarship through T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® INDIANA project at the Indiana Association for the Education of Young Children and college classes, I learned what quality care and education is and how to implement it.  I feel with the education I’ve gotten, I can help children be more productive citizens in the future.
